Charity Fair Book Haul!

Yesterday we had a little family outing (nawww) to the Cats Protection League Fair where they raise money for rescued cats. We actually got our two cats from there when they were cute little kittens! They had a book stall and of course I couldn't resist picking some up; 6 books for £2 is a serious bargain :) Here's the ones I bought:

I've read some by Jodi Picoult before but have no idea about the other authors, they just looked good. Let me know if you've read any of these ones. I'm excited to snuggle up under my duvet with a hot chocolate & hot water bottle and get into a good book, I haven't done that for agggessss.

I'm going to do a Favourite Summer Reads post just as soon as this ridiculous weather clears up!

Triangle Accessories!

Last night I came home from Uni to a lovely little package from Carrie over at I won her gorgeous giveaway of a set of jewellery pieces from her etsy store, Triangle Accessories, thank you Carrie! Not going to lie, my luck is pretty good at the moment, I seem to keep winning things... I should really enter a few more competitions! Take a look at the little surprises she sent my way; they're absolutely adorable:

I received two bracelets, one with an anchor charm and one with an infinity charm along with a pair of anchor earrings. The bracelet cord comes in several colours and can be adjusted to your wrist size. I love the cute charms and the casual feel of the cord, I've got a feeling I'll be wearing these quite a lot :)

Thank you again to Carrie, and if you want to have a peek at these bracelets here's her online shop:

My Week In Pictures #2

This week was show week! I performed in the University Dance Show, which we'd worked on for about ten weeks in classes. I took part in 8 dances and had such an awesome time. Shows always bring everyone together backstage and you get so much adrenalin! Here's a few photos from my wonderful week:

NOTD // Smooth Sailing

I'm really loving Essie's 'Smooth Sailing' polish recently, so I popped it on my nails this morning. It's a tranquil medium blue, with a very subtle silver sparkle run through it. Gorgeous!

Hope you're having a lovely Wednesday!

New iPad Case(s)!

As you probably know from a few previous posts, I've had trouble finding a good way of carrying my iPad Mini around. There just doesn't seem to be many cute iPad Mini cases out there, even though there's loads for the full size iPad, grr! After trawling the internet for ages, last week I finally made an order on Amazon for a rubber case and a quilted iPad sleeve

I'm aware this sleeve may not be to everyone's tastes, but I'm loving it! Reduced from almost £30 to £7.99, it's really good quality and there's no way my iPad's going to get scratched or damaged when it's cozied up inside.

It's got a zip closure, and a soft pink lining, with enough room to store both an iPad with a small case and a stylus down the side.

The rubber case was cheap and cheerful but it's a really good fit and gorgeous coloured blue. The material makes the iPad less slippery in your hands so your less likely to drop it, and protects the back from scratches.

I'm all in all pretty chuffed with my new iPad housing! If you're looking for iPad Mini cases and these look like something you'd like, I'd totally recommend both products.

GFC PANIC // Where have I been?

First of all I must say a big sorry for my absence in the blogging world recently. I've had our University Dance Show during the last week, with 4 evening performances and 1 matinee! It's been SO much fun, but hasn't left me much time for anything else! When I get the professional photos back I'll defs show you guys in a separate post :)

The End Of GFC?
Also, you must have heard by now about the mass panic caused by Google announcing the end of Google Reader. Apparently this might also mean the end of Google Friend Connect, which is how most of you follow my blog. AHHHH! What everyone seems to be doing (even if it's just a precaution for now) is following all their blogs on Bloglovin' instead. Bloglovin' is a lovely site and easy to use for keeping up with your blogs so I've migrated over there. If you want to keep following this blog, please start following with Bloglovin' by clicking on the button in the right-hand sidebar, ta!
Alternatively, you can directly start following ALL the blogs you currently follow using GFC, by clicking on the following link. (Make sure you have a bloglovin' account all set up first). (then click on Google Reader)

See you on Bloglovin'!

Body Scrub On A Budget - Arora Scrub Review

I was making an online order on Superdrug (naughty naughty), when I saw that these 'Arora' Body Scrubs (200ml) were on sale for £1.95 each, down from £3.99.  They come in 6 scents and I picked out the most scrumptious sounding three: Wild Berry, Sweet Vanilla and Chocolate Expresso. There's also Coconut Creme, Pomegranate Passion and Pink Grapefruit.

Scrub Tower!
These scrubs are obviously on the cheap end of the massive scrub market, but for the reduced price I paid they were more than worth the money. The scents are extremely sweet (luckily I love that) and you get a large amount in a tub. The consistency is like sugar suspended in syrup and the product in fact feels quite luxurious to use. Regarding results, I'd say the actual job these scrubs do of removing dry skin lives up to several Soap&Glory scrubs I've used which are about four times the price!

These scrubs totally do the job you expect from any good scrub, without the guilt you get from knowing that just one exfoliation session in the shower cost you a couple of £! Big Thumbs up from me!

IOTW # 2 - Banning Animal Testing

This weeks Issue of the Week is a very positive one, and more of a solution to an issue! :) Today the EU will enforce a ban on selling cosmetics that have been tested on animals for all countries in the the European Union. Yes! This is such a great step forward (that should have been taken long long ago) so I just wanted to let you know that Europe is doing something right!

I wish I could say I did have a Cafe date today, but that's just what I thought this outfit would be more suited for! Unfortunately for me all this outfit saw today was lectures, and now I have to change out of it as  I'm about to head off for one of the final rehearsals for our Uni Dance Show happening next week (excited!).

£20 Challenge Update!

Last month I undertook the £20 Challenge (if you didn't read that post you can catch up on the idea here).
Anyway, the boys went to the football match on Monday evening and really enjoyed it. Even though there was only one goal in the whole match, they could see all the action really well, and they even managed to take some photos for me to share with you!

Thank you again to :)

NOTD - Classic French Manicure

Today I went with a classic french manicure, which I do when I've got a bit more time on my hands! I know everyone does it differently, so here's how I do mine: I first apply a base coat of clear polish. Then I use Rimmel's Nail Tip Whitener Polish to draw the white tip, keeping the brush still, and rolling my finger around to transfer the polish to the nail. I wait for that to dry and then do exactly the same again. Finally I paint a thin layer of Collection 2000's French Pink Polish over the whole nail, and seal with a clear topcoat. VoilĂ !

IOTW (Issue of the Week) - Wet wipes for your bum??

I've decided to start up my first regular feature on this blog (Wahoo!) Around the weekend I'll be covering an issue, big or small  that's caught my attention during the week. Hopefully this will be interesting and maybe bring about some discussions :) So here we go for this weeks issue!

When I was at the Bullring Shopping Centre the other day, there was a massive Andrex stall, handing out free packs of their new 'Washlets' for free. This odd new product is pretty much a wet tissue wipe to use alongside regular toilet paper. You've probably heard their slogan somewhere - "Change what you mean by Clean".
In my opinion, this is quite ridiculous. If you shower at least once a day, you're going to be clean enough  anyway, unless you're got some problem or other down there. For most people, unless perhaps you're on your time of the month, or suffering from nasty symptoms of the flu, I don't see why you'd use these on a daily basis. At near enough £2 for a pack of 42, the cost will add up for something that gives no health benefits and no visible difference(!) As far as I'm concerned, Andrex, like many brands, is once again trying to sneakily persuade us that we 'need' to purchase this new product, or we should now be made to feel 'dirty' if we stick to normal loo roll.

Whilst it feels weirdly luxurious to wipe down there with a moistened and fragranced little towelette (!), it is for me an unnecessary expense that I'd much rather spend on something else.
Have any of you spent your money on Washlets, or are planing to?

February Favourites!

February has been a really good month for me! I've spent lots of time dancing as I've got a dance show coming up in two weeks, had a wonderful Valentines Day with my boyfriend, and made new Church friends on our Church Weekend away. My big music love this month was Kina Grannis' album Stairwells, full of beautiful relaxing songs. Here's my 'material' favourites! :

1. Being Human TV Series // Rumoured to be the final series, this show is a great mix of horror and humour. Don't watch this if you don't like gory scenes!

2. River Island Necklace // Goes with almost everything :)

3. Essie Polish in Too Too Hot // A bright red shade brightens up lots of outfits.

4. Nutella // On crumpets, bananas, with apple slices, you name it!

5. Oilatum Natural Repair Face Cream // I reviewed this here.

6. Re-usable Starbucks Tumbler // Looks so cool, and helps me to drink more water too!

I hope your month has been equally lovely!
