July Favourites

It's that time again, the end of another month. I think I must be getting old as the months are flying by faster and faster! It's been an a bit of a 'meh' month for me; injuring my foot at work and generally feeling sorry for myself for most of July hasn't been that fun. I'm really looking forward to August as I'll be spending a week volunteering and another week in Tenerife :) I've just looked over the products I've picked out as my favourites this month, and realised that four out of the six are spray products; how random is that!

Soap and Glory Girligo: I recently did a review of this product, describing it as my best summer moisturiser. It's a body moisturizing mist, so you just spritz the (scented) stuff all over and you're done.

La Roche-Posay Eau Thermal: Yes, it's basically just water in a can, but the thermal water is naturally rich in the antioxidant Selenium which soothes and softens sensitive skin. I don't know if it's my imagination, but my skin has felt less tight and generally less irritated since using this. I'll definitely be picking up another can for my holiday as it's also really cooling.

Urban Decay All Nighter: This Setting Spray is a life-saver in the heat we've had recently. My make-up does not budge after a few sprays of this, simple.

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Blueberry: Blueberry is a bright blue shade that makes your tan look gorgeous and adds a pop to any outfit.

REN Clearcalm 3 Clarity Restoring Mask: I'm becoming a huge fan of REN skincare, and this mask is my latest favourite of their offerings. It's formulated for blemish prone skin, and is great for my sensitive skin as it's not harsh at all. My new favourite face mask.

The Body Shop Love Etc...  Sun Kiss Eau de Toilette: I've officially found my new summer scent! It's a bit more tangy and fruity that its perfume cousin (which I also own), with the addition of nectarine."This summery fragrance is a blend of jasmine and fresh nectarine notes. It is deliciously light, upbeat and cheeky. Perfumer Dominique Ropion says, “I used nectarine with an unexpected solar accord, perfectly embodying the scent of summertime.” Yum yum.

And now for non-beauty favourites: My Music favourite this month is Hoodie Allen (check out his album 'All American', it's so summery and happy!) and my Food favourite has got to be Mini Magnums!

I'd love to see your favourites for the month of July, so if you've done a post, please link it below :)

NOTD - Lychee

I've seen this lovely understated Barry M polish in a few Youtube videos recently; and having now tried it out for myself I can see why. It's the perfect nude 'sophisticated' shade that makes you skin look glowing and tanned, and it has a lovely shiny glossy finish. Whilst the claim that it gives the perfect finish in one coat isn't completely true (I find it takes the usual two), it is a lovely formula that gives an opaque, no-streaks finish that doesn't chip too easily either. This will definitely be a much worn colour over the next few months.

Drugstore Haul!

It's haul time! I've got a few things to show you today that I picked up from Boots and Superdrug recently. I could honestly spends hours browsing those make-up and skincare stands and this little haul is my very restrained collection of purchases.

Boots are currently having a Soap and Glory 3 for 2 offer again, wahoo! So of course I picked up a new full size bottle of Girligo (review here) and two of their lovely scrubs - Sugar Crush and The Breakfast Scrub. Boy does the Sugar Crush one smell good! Can't wait to try these.

In Superdrug, the Barry M stand had a 3 for 2 offer too - score! I'd wanted to pick up the Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in 'Lychee' as a neutral 'sophisticated' shade, and I also decided to try one their 'Confetti Nail Effects' Polishes and a lovely dark red one from their regular collection - not very summery but I love it.

I had to stock up on a few essentials too - a large bottle of Batiste for tackling greasy hair in this heatwave, some puffs for applying powder, a Natural Collection Mascara (cheap, but really does work) and MUA's Pro-Base Eye Primer.

Andddd.. a couple of little unnecessary splurges: I'd wanted to try the 'Super Natural' shade of the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss after absolutely loving the shade 'Kiss Me Coral'. These glosses come in lovely shades, are long-lasting, but not sticky, and don't have a taste, which I like. I also couldn't resist this massive (like seriously massive - 4 inches across!) GOSH 'Giant Sun Bronzer', which I thought would look lovely dusted over legs, arms and d├ęcolletage.

Have you done a haul post recently? Please link it below as I love to be nosy :)

Summer Trip Idea: Rowing!

I hope you are all well and enjoying this incredible weather! Are you as excited as I am that the royal baby is on it's way?? I woke up this morning to the news on the radio, and literally squealed! I even predicted that today would be 'the day' so I'm pretty chuffed with myself for that! It's just a little lifestyle post today; my boyfriend and I had a lovely day trip to a local town, and treated ourselves to a romantic little rowing trip. It was actually a lot cooler on the water, so it's a lovely thing to do on a really hot summers day. It's probably a good idea to bring someone who actually knows how to row (luckily the bf does), as I was an utter mess when I tried to manoeuvre the ridiculously heavy oars and ended up steering us into the bank, oops.

Do you have any summer day-trip ideas for couples? I'd love to hear them!

Best Summer Body Moisturiser: Girligo

I don't know about you, but in the summer I literally cannot be bothered with the task of rubbing a ton of moisturiser all over myself after a shower. Cue Soap and Glory's 'Girligo' (I have the sample size). It's a 'body moisturising mist' so instead of having to scoop out blobs of moisturiser from a tub and exert yourself rubbing it in for ten minutes (how lazy do I sound??) you just spray the fine mist over your skin and you're done! You might need to rub it in a bit if you spray a lot, but this product makes moisturising so much easier that it actually want to it! The product doesn't feel sticky on the skin afterwards; instead it leaves your skin looking dewy and hydrated. And the actual quality of the moisturiser is great too; my skin felt less tight, and looked smoother with no dry patches when using it once a day. It also has a gorgeous scent, which is surprisingly long lasting.

I will 100% be repurchasing this, probably many times! Have you tried this product or one similar?

Summer Wishlist

Summer is finally here! I'd normally be out in the garden, sunbathing (and slowly turning a shade of lobster pink) but my stupid burnt foot is still sore, and can't go out in the sun yet. (I burnt my foot at work by pouring boiling water on it a week ago... don't try this at home). However, I'm looking forward SO much to the two holidays I'll be going on in August and September. I've got a list as long as my arm of bits and bobs I want to pick up for them, but here's just a few of them. If you have any summer essentials you think I should try, please let me know in the comments :)

As much as I love my Urban Decay Primer Potion, it's just too expensive for using every day throughout the summer. At about a tenth of the price, MUA's version has received so much praise.

I picked up the colour 'Blueberry' the other day and I love the shiny finish it gives, and the bright colours. I don't actually own a lilac polish, so this one is perfect!

3. Yankee Candle Ceramic Warmer // around £25-35
I think I first saw this on DollyBowBow's Youtube Channel. It's a 'tart' burner; you plug the burner into the wall and it heats the dish on the top, melting the scented tarts, and making your room smell lovely. I know it's not exactly a summer product, but you can get summery scented tarts (and winter/chistmas ones too!)

4. HandM Straw Hat // £6.99
The skin on my face burns faster than any part of me, so a summer hat is pretty much essential. A straw one always seems to look causual but stylish and goes with any summery outfit.

I've been wanting to get a LWD (little white dress) for ages, and I love the crochet style of this one.

Enjoy the sunshine!

Body Shop Haul

[Happy 100th Post to my blog!]

There's no monthly favourites post this month, because, as much as I love writing them, during June I just didn't find any products or things that I absolutely loved (apart from my Rebecca Minkoff bag, of COURSE, and I've mentioned that farrr too many times already!) Bit of a bummer really, but I've got a feeling that a couple of these new Body Shop products will find their way into my July favourites as I'm loving them already.

First of all, how cute is this bottle? I was really in need of some summery scents and this one is such a fresh fragrance, and seems to last quite a while too.

"This summery fragrance is a blend of neroli blossom and refreshing watermelon notes. It is vibrant, energising and as refreshing as a splash in the ocean. Perfumer Loc Dong says, “I added freshness with sea spray and fruity watermelon for an unexpected fragrance fusion."

Love etc is rated as 5 star on the Body Shop site, and whilst it's a lovely scent, I'm not as in love with it as the two eau de toilettes I picked up. Apparently it's a "fusion of jasmine, vanilla and sandalwood notes."

This has got to be my favourite purchase of the haul, and I can see this being my main scent for summer. It's a bit more tangy and fruity than its perfume cousin, which I love, with the addition of nectarine. "This summery fragrance is a blend of jasmine and fresh nectarine notes. It is deliciously light, upbeat and cheeky. Perfumer Dominique Ropion says, “I used nectarine with an unexpected solar accord, perfectly embodying the scent of summertime.”

Chances are you've tried a Body Shop body mist before. I'm a devotee to the mango one, and this time I picked up the strawberry one too. If you're not a fan of super sweet scents stay clear though!

I haven't tried this eye cream, but I've heard it raved about everywhere so I thought I'd give it a go; review coming soon!

Also I think I deserve a pat on the back for managing to take these photos for this post, as my little foot is all bandaged up and sore! I was a prized plonk and managed to spill boiling water over my foot at work (cue a trip to AandE) and now I'm a poor little invalid :(

Hope your week is going 100 times better than mine!

Now Open: Little Koala Design!

As you will most probably have heard my blabbering on about here on the blog or over on Twitter, I've had lots of requests over the last month to do blog designs for other bloggers. It's something I absolutely love doing, and the little 'shop' took off faster than I expected it to. So I'm very happy to announce the arrival of a dedicated design site - Little Koala Designs! If you're looking to give you blog a makover, or just to give it back some pizazz with a custom header, I'd love you to come and have a look :)

Have a lovely Wednesday!

Healthy July

Since coming home from uni for the summer I've been feeling pretty unhealthy, and I've decided that the start of July (and the realisation of what I look like in a summer dress!) is a good time to start a healthier way of living. Being at home has meant no walking to lectures, no calorie-burning dance classes, and a larder full of lovely food that I don't normally have at uni! I've started to feel sluggish, unhappy about my figure and skin, and generally unfit. Here's what I'm going to do in July to look and feel happy for summer!

- Running. Even the word fills me with dread, but I've found these podcasts (from the NHS) for the running virgin like me. I've done the first podcast a couple of times with a friend and whilst they nearly killed me, I got through them!

- Swimersize! I've started going to a swimming exercise class with my Mum, which is a combination of swimming lengths of the pool and static exercises in both the shallow and deep ends. If you really put everything into it, it's a really good workout.

- Toning. If you haven't already stumbled upon Blogilates on Youtube, you need to take a look! Instructer Cassey gives you hundreds of routines from ab workouts to inner-thigh toning sessions; it's like having your own personal trainer, but for FREE :D

- Diet - I'm not actually going to be 'dieting' as such, but I'm going to try to cut back on bread and cheese, and replace cakes and chocolates with strawberries and bananas. I've also discovered that we have a smoothie maker, so I've been experimenting with making healthy juices and smoothies!

Is any one else embracing a healthier lifestyle this month?
