Since coming home from uni for the summer I've been feeling pretty unhealthy, and I've decided that the start of July (and the realisation of what I look like in a summer dress!) is a good time to start a healthier way of living. Being at home has meant no walking to lectures, no calorie-burning dance classes, and a larder full of lovely food that I don't normally have at uni! I've started to feel sluggish, unhappy about my figure and skin, and generally unfit. Here's what I'm going to do in July to look and feel happy for summer!
- Running. Even the word fills me with dread, but I've found these podcasts (from the NHS) for the running virgin like me. I've done the first podcast a couple of times with a friend and whilst they nearly killed me, I got through them!
- Swimersize! I've started going to a swimming exercise class with my Mum, which is a combination of swimming lengths of the pool and static exercises in both the shallow and deep ends. If you really put everything into it, it's a really good workout.
- Toning. If you haven't already stumbled upon Blogilates on Youtube, you need to take a look! Instructer Cassey gives you hundreds of routines from ab workouts to inner-thigh toning sessions; it's like having your own personal trainer, but for FREE :D
- Diet - I'm not actually going to be 'dieting' as such, but I'm going to try to cut back on bread and cheese, and replace cakes and chocolates with strawberries and bananas. I've also discovered that we have a smoothie maker, so I've been experimenting with making healthy juices and smoothies!
Is any one else embracing a healthier lifestyle this month?
